Dupli-Color - Part 1 - The Start

Jessi Combs and Dupli-Color team together to show you how properly use Dupli-Color products. Dupli-Color's products are designed for the DIY people that may not have the professional equipment, tools and facility. These products and methods are great for the hobbyist wanting to make their ride look good again without killing their budget.

Jessi and the Dupli-Color team will demonstrate how to paint engine parts, chrome parts, brake caliper and drums, wheels, interior vinyl and fabric, sprayed on bed liners, body preparation, and painting the outside.

Dupli-Color - Part 2 - Painting Chrome

This episode will demonstrate how to paint chrome parts. I advise you to follow Dupli-Color's steps exactly. If not, you may have adhesion problems as it is hard to get coatings to stick to chrome. It is always a good idea to read the directions of any paint supplies before applying it.

Dupli-Color - Part 3 - Painting Calipers, Frame and Undercoating

Dupli-Color teaches us how to use their paints for calipers, drums, frame and undercoating. Small details like this are what makes a great appearance.

Dupli-Color - Part 4 - Painting Wheels

The Dupli-Color team demonstrates how to scuff, mask and paint rims using Dupli-Color products. On this video they are demonstrating how to two tone aluminum wheels. However, do not confuse aluminum with chrome wheels. I am not sure if Dupli-Color claims their wheel coating will adhere to chrome or not. It is hard to get coating to stick to chrome so be sure to read the directions before attempting to paint chrome wheels.

Dupli-Color - Part 5 - Interior

In this video Dupli-color takes the interior out of the car so they can stop the rust with their rust conversion product.  Then they will demonstrate DIY methods for preparing vinyl and fabric for a new color.  With just a little work and dupli-color products, your interior will look great again.

Dupli-Color - Part 6 - Spray On Bed Liner

This episode will show you how to prepare and apply Dupli-Color's Spray On Bed Liner.  This is an easy way to have a nice looking bed that is durable.

Dupli-Color - Part 7 - Prep, Trim and the Paint Booth

We have a lot of information in this post so we are going to have two videos.  First, Duplicolor explains and demonstrates how to repair minor imperfections.  They sand the surface imperfection with 180 and apply a small amount of body filler.  Glaze putty may also be consider to be applied straight over paint as in demonstration.  Then the filler is sanded.  All metal should have a light coat of eslf etching primer, then the primer surfacer can bee applied.  Finish sanding the primer with 600 grit sandpaper and now you're ready for paint.  First, we need a paint booth with will be covered in the second video below.

Painting The Trim and Building The Booth
In this episode Duplicolor will demonstrate how to have your trim looking new again.  It would would be a shame to have a new paint with ugly molding outlining the hard work you performed on the car.  No worry, follow these DIY steps and your entire car will be looking good.  Jessi Combs shows up in this episode after all of the work has been completed.  However, she makes it up by buying drinks for the team.   Here is Dupli-Color's Paint Booth Directions.

Dupli-color - Part 8 - Spraying Primer and Paint

In this episode the booth is built, the car is masked and the car is ready for primer and paint.  First, the car is wiped down, then tacked off with a tack rag to remove all remaining dirt and lint.  Once the surface is ready, the booth floor is wet down to eliminate dust from flying around and getting into the paint job.  The Duplicolor Shop Paint primer is applied, then the orange paint is sprayed.  After allowing the paint to dry, Jessi Combs and the Duplicolor team masked the car to spray the black.  The finished project...well, the half project is getting closer to completion.

Dupli-color - Part 9 - Metallic Clear, Unmask and Buff

In this episode Jessi Combs and the Folks at Duplicolor demonstrate how to apply the metallic clear coat that Duplicolor offers in their Paint Shop line of products. Once the El Camino has been clear coated, the car is unmasked, the paint booth is taken down, and the paint is buffed and polished. Next, what you've been waiting for, the finished project.

Dupli-color - Part 10 - The Finished Product

This is the final episode. Jessi Combs and the Duplicolor gang head to Las Vegas and review on all of the steps they did to get the 1979 El Camino. Using 31 products they restored half of the El Camino inside and out. This is a great system and how-to for the DIY folks out their. I hope you enjoyed the videos and have fun working on your DIY project.
